Simak contoh percakapan berikut.

Dialogue I

A: Good morning, how may I help you? (Selamat pagi, ada yang bisa saya bantu?)

B: Hi, I’m thinking of putting my belongings in hock to get some cash but I still don’t know how to go about it. (Hai, saya berpikiran untuk menggadaikan barang-barang saya untuk mendapatkan uang, tapi saya belum tahu prosedurnya)

A: Well, it’s pretty easy. First, the thing used as collateral must be something worth money, like jewels or watches. The amount of money you’ll get is a fraction of your item’s value. You can repay the loan within 3-4 months, with all the fees and interest. (Mudah saja.

B: But I can get my item back, can’t I? (Tapi saya bisa dapatkan barang saya kembali, kan?)

A: Only if you repay the money by the deadline. Or else, we’ll put it for sale.  (Hanya jika kau membayar uangnya pada tenggat waktu. Kalau tidak, kami akan menjualnya)

B: Do you only take jewels and watches? (Apakah Anda hanya menerima perhiasan dan jam tangan?)

A: Those are preferable here, but it could also be anything that is worth money. Consider how much loan you need; because you’ll only get 30-60% of the item’s value. You can also sell your items to us.

B: I got it. I’ll get back here with my Rolex tomorrow. (Saya paham. Saya akan kembali kemari dengan Rolex-ku besok)

Dialogue II

A: Welcome, what can I do for you?

B: I’m here for pawning my watch. (Saya kemari untuk menggadaikan jam tangan saya)

A: Can I see it? (Boleh saya lihat?)

B: Here it is. It’s a Rolex watch. (Ini. Ini adalah jam tangan Rolex)

A: How long have you had it? (Berapa lama kau memilikinya?)

B: It’s a gift form a friend, I got it like 5 years ago.

A: This item is worth $3500. (Barang ini bernilai $3500)

B: Are you kidding me? I’ve done my research, and it’s worth at least $4800. (Apakah Anda bercanda?

A: This item is a little bit too older than what people usually brought here. To be fair, what if you give me a time to take this watch to an appraiser?

B: How long will that take? (Berapa lama?)

A: Approximately a day. (Sekitar satu hari)

Dialogue III

A: Welcome. (Selamat datang)

B: Hello, I’m thinking of hocking and selling a few things. Here’s my ID card.

A: Let me see what you have. (Biar saya lihat yang kau punya)

B: I’m selling my video games collection and also this ring. How much are they worth? Berapa nilainya?)

A: Hmm… I’ll take these games for $1 each. (Hmm… Akan saya ambil game ini seharga $1 satuannya)

B: Give me $2. (Beri saya $2)

A: $1.5 each, how about that? ($1.5 satunya, bagaimana?)

B: I got 5 games in there, give me $9. (Saya ada 5 game di sana, beri saya $9)

A: Fine. (Baiklah)

B: What about this ring? (Bagaimana dengan cincin ini?)

A: Does it come with anything? (Apa ada kelengkapannya?)

B: No, that’s all I have. Don’t worry, I got it from my grandma.

A: I’ll need to bring it to an expert to see how much it’s worth. It’ll take 1-2 days. Butuh 1-2 hari)

B: Never mind, I need my cash today. Just take this laptop, tell me how much loan I can get and the interest.

A: I’ll give you $500 for this Macbook Air. We offer low interest rates as much as $4 since you’re a student. And you can redeem your item within 90 days.

B: Is there any additional fees? (Apakah ada biaya tambahan?)

A: Yes, you will be charged $10 for 3 months storage fee.

B: How long is the grace period? (Berapa lama masa tenggangnya?)

A: I’ll give you 10 days. (Saya beri 10 hari)

B: Great. (Baik)
