Dalam bahasa Inggris ada berbagai macam pola kalimat yang sebaiknya diketahui oleh para pembelajar. Apa saja?
Berikut ini macam-macam pola kalimat bahasa Inggris beserta rumus dan contohnya:
A. Pola kalimat yang menggunakan “to be” sebagai kata kerjanya (verb). “to be” yang dimaksud seperti : am, is, are, was, were been.
Rumusnya:
Subject + To be + Noun/Adjective/Adverb/Preposition/Pronoun
Contohnya:
- They are students of SMP Nusantara (Mereka para murid SMP Nusantara)
- I was sad (aku sedih)
B. Pola kalimat yang menggunakan kata kerjanya (verb) selain“to be”.
Dalam jenis kalimat ini ada beberapa pola kalimat yang berbeda-beda, untuk lebih jelas sebagai berikut

Subject + Linking Verb + Noun / Adjective / Adverb / Preposition / Pronoun
Contohnya:
- She becomes a reporter (Dia (perempuan) menjadi seorang reporter)
- The magazine seems for you (Majalahnya itu tampaknya untuk kamu)
Pola 2
Rumusnya
Subject + Transitive verb + object + Adverb
atau
Subject + Transitive verb + Indirect object + Direct object + Adverb
atau
Subject + Transitive verb + Indirect object + Preposition + Direct object + Adverb
Contohnya
- She opened the door yesterday (Dia (perempuan) membuka pintu kemarin)
- Father always gives money for me every morning (Ayah selalu memberikan uang kepadaku setiap pagi)

Rumusnya
Subject + Transitive verb + object +Adverb
Contohnya
The train will arrive soon (Keretanya akan datang segera)
My brother goes to work every day (Saudara laki-lakiku pergi bekerja setiap hari)
Pola 4
Rumusnya:
Subject + verb + to + Bare infinitive + object +Adverb
Contohnya:
- I planned to marry Sophia (Aku akan menikahi Sopia)
- He wants to go to Korea (Dia(laki-laki) ingin pergi ke Korea)
Pola 5
Rumusnya
Subject + To be /Linking Verb + to + Bare infinitive object +Adverb
Contohnya
- She appears reluctant to leave the party (Dia(perempuan) nampaknya enggan meninggalkan pesta)
- He is afraid to enter the room (Dia(laki-laki) takut memasuki ruangan itu)

Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + Gerund + Adverb
Contohnya:
- I start working at nine o’clock (Aku mulai bekerja pukul Sembilan pagi)
- She likes going to the art gallery (Dia(perempuan) suka ergi ke galeri kesenian)
Pola 7
Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + Preposition + Gerund + object +Adverb
Contohnya:
- I am looking for forward to seeing you (Aku tidak sabar bisa bertemu denganmu)
- She insisted on staying in your house (Dia(laki-laki) bersikeras tinggal dirumahmu)
Pola 8
Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + object + to + Bare infinitive object +Adverb
Contohnya:
- He wants me to go to his house (Dia(laki-laki) ingin aku pergi ke rumahnya)
- I asked her to tell me about the accident (Aku memintanya untuk menjelaskanku tentang kejadian itu)

Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + object + Bare infinitive object +Adverb
Contohnya:
- He wants me go to his house (Dia(laki-laki) ingin aku pergi ke rumahnya)
- I asked her tell me about the accident (Aku memintanya untuk menjelaskanku tentang kejadian itu)

Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + object +past participle + Adverb
Contohnya:
- My father had the car washed (Bapakku menyuruh mobilnya dicuci)
- She will have the room cleaned (Dia akan menyuruh ruangannya dibersihkan)
Pola 11
Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + object + Verb-ing+ Adverb
Contohnya:
- I saw him mocking the boy (aku melihat laki-laki mengejek laki-laki lain
- I know her sweeping the floor (aku tahu dia(perempuan) yang sedang menyapu lantai)
Pola 12
Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + object + Adjective
Contohnya:
- I painted the house black (aku mengecat rumah dengan warna hitam)
- She made the house neat (Dia(perempuan) membuat rumahnya rapi)
Pola 13
Rumusnya:
Subject + Verb + object + noun
Contohnya:
- We elected him governor (Kita memilihnya sebagai gubernur)
- They called him “party pooper” (Mereka memanggilnya” si perusak pesta)
