"Have to" digunakan untuk membentuk kalimat kepastian, kebutuhan, dan kewajiban. “Have to” merupakan bentuk sopan dari kalimat suruhan atau kewajiban.

Contoh kalimat have to:

Negatif

• Nobody have to obey the rules to make peace. (Present)

Perlu diingat perbedaan “do not have to” dengan “must not”:

• “Do not have to” digunakan untuk membuat kalimat yang menunjukkan bahwa seseorang tidak diharuskan untuk melakukan sesuatu.
• “Must not” digunakan untuk membuat kalimat yang menunjukkan bahwa Anda dilarang melakukan sesuatu.

Contoh kalimatnya:

• We must not eat that. Hal ini dilarang, itu tidak diperbolehkan.
