Apa pengertian simple present tense dan bagaimana contoh kalimatnya (positif, negatif, tanya)?

Simple present tense termasuk pada kelompok present tense, yaitu tenses yang menyatakan sesuatu yang sedang terjadi saat ini atau sekarang. Selain simple present tense yang termasuk present tense adalah Present Continuous Tense, Present Perfect Tense, Present Perfect Continuous Tense. Dalam Bahasa Inggris kalimat setiap tenses dapat memiliki tiga bentuk yaitu kalimat positive, negative dan interrogative.

Rumus simple present tense sebagai berikut:

• Positive (+) : S + V1 (s/es) + O/C
• Negative (-) : S + do/does + not + V1 + O/C
• Interrogative (?) : Do/does + S + V1 + O/C +?

Contoh bentuk kalimat simple present tense positive, negative dan interrogative yang dapat kita gunakan diantaranya sebagai berikut:

• (+) Susan helps her aunt in aunt’s flower shop. - Susan menolong tantenya di toko bunga tante.
• (-) Susan do not help her aunt in aunt’s flower shop. - Susan tidak menolong tantenya di toko bunga tante.
• (?) Does Susan help her aunt in aunt’s flower shop? - Apakah Susan menolong tantenya di toko bunga tante?

• (+) Seventh grade students use science laboratory. - Siswa-siswa kelas tujuh menggunakan laboratorium sains.
• (-) Seventh grade students do not use science laboratory. - Siswa-siswa kelas tujuh tidak menggunakan laboratorium sains.
• (?) Do seventh grade students use science laboratory? - Apakah siswa-siswa kelas tujuh menggunakan laboratorium sains.
