Pengertian Qualitative adjectives

Qualitative adjectives describe the qualities of a person or thing – whether they are large or small, happy or sad, etc. This type of adjective is gradable.

Contoh:

• a fairly tall man
• a very boring film
• a really long holiday
• an extremely expensive car

Qualitative adjective adalah Adjective (kata sifat) yang mendeskripsikan karakteristik atau penilaian (opini) dari suatu noun (kata benda). Jenis kata sifat ini dapat ditempatkan sebelum noun sebagai attributive adjective (a young woman), ataupun setelah noun dengan diselangi Linking verb (be, look, taste, seem, etc) sebagai Predicative adjectives (She is young.).
Berbeda dengan classifying adjective, qualitative adjective biasanya bersifatgradable (dapat dimodifikasi di depan atau di belakangnya oleh adverb of degree  very, enough, a bit, extremely, really, so, somewhat, etc) serta memiliki bentuk comparative“-er/more/irregular” maupun superlative “-est/most/irregular”.
