Rina: Anto, I don’t believe it. There’s someone I know over there. Nia! (Anto, saya tidak percaya. Ada seseorang yang saya kenal di sana. Nia!)

Nia: Oh, my gosh. Rina. Rina Macrae, is that you? (Ya ampun. Rina. Rina Macrae. Itu kamu bukan?)

Rina: Rina Edison now, but yeah, it’s me. (Rina Edison sekarang, tapi ya, ini aku.)

Nia: No way! Nice to see you, Rina. Like, it’s been ages! (Tidak mungkin! Senang bertemu denganmu, Rina. Seperti, sudah berabad-abad!)

Rina: I know. Gee, you haven’t changed a bit. (Aku tahu. Astaga, kamu tidak berubah sedikit pun.)

Nia: I don’t know about that. What have you been doing all this time? (Saya tidak tahu tentang itu. Apa yang kamu lakukan selama ini?)

Rina: Oh, the usual. You know, life, work, family. And yourself? (Oh, seperti biasa. Anda tahu, hidup, pekerjaan, keluarga. Dan dirimu?)

Nia: Well, that’s a long story. (Yah, itu cerita yang panjang.)

Rina: I’d love to hear it, but first let me introduce my husband. Anto, meet Nia Franzen. Or at least it was. (Saya ingin sekali mendengarnya, tetapi pertama-tama izinkan saya memperkenalkan suami saya. Anto, ketemu Nia Franzen. Atau setidaknya itu.)

Nia: Still is. Hi, Anto. Nice to meet you. (Masih. Hai, Anto. Senang bertemu denganmu.)

Anto: How do you do, Nia. (Bagaimana kabarmu, Nia.)

Rina: Nia and I lived in the same dorm at college.

Anto: So this is the Nia . . . ? (Jadi ini Nia. . . ?)

Nia: I hope you haven’t told any stories. (Saya harap Anda tidak menceritakan apa-apa.)

Rina: Nothing that isn’t true. (Tidak ada yang tidak benar.)

Nia: Now I’m really in trouble! Anyway, how come I haven’t seen you two here before? (Sekarang aku benar-benar dalam masalah! Lagi pula, kenapa aku belum melihat kalian berdua di sini sebelumnya?)

Anto: Well, we only joined the golf club this summer.

Rina: Anto got transferred to Portland last summer, and since then we’ve been busy getting settled into our new house and then there are the kids and all their activities.(Anto dipindahkan ke Portland musim panas lalu, dan sejak itu lalu kami sibuk menetap di rumah baru kami dan kemudian ada anak-anak dan semua aktivitas mereka.)

Nia: You always were a go-getter, Rina. Are you still into acting? (Kamu selalu rajin, Rina. Apakah Anda masih suka akting?)

Anto: Acting? Is there something I should know? (Akting? Apakah ada sesuatu yang harus saya ketahui?)

Rina: Oh, it was just amateur stuff. But that wasn’t all we did for kicks, was it?

Nia: Don’t remind me. (Jangan ingatkan aku.)

Rina: The good old college days, huh? But didn’t you go to Europe for a while?

Nia: Yeah, I traveled around and then I ended up living in Italy for ten years.

Rina: Wow! What were you doing in Italy? (Wah! Apa yang kamu lakukan di Italia?)

Nia: Well, first I had a ball just touring around and then I got a job teaching English. That’s how I met Giorgio. You’ll have to meet him. Look, let’s get together for dinner. (Yah, pertama saya punya bola hanya berkeliling dan kemudian saya mendapat pekerjaan mengajar bahasa Inggris. Begitulah cara saya bertemu Giorgio. Anda harus bertemu dengannya. Dengar, mari kita berkumpul untuk makan malam.)

Rina: We’d love to. There must be a million things to catch up on. Like whatever happened to Brenda. (Kami ingin sekali. Harus ada sejuta hal untuk dikejar. Seperti apa pun yang terjadi pada Brenda.)

Nia: You’ll never guess, but she ended up in New Zealand.

Rina: What do you know! We used to have a riot together! (Apa yang kamu tahu! Kami pernah melakukan kerusuhan bersama!)

Nia: Didn’t we! Anyway, sorry I have to run, but give me a ring. I’m in the book. (Bukan!

Rina: So are we. Edison on Cormorant Drive. (Kami juga. Edison di Cormorant Drive.)

Nia: Got it! Well, it was great meeting you, Anto. (Senang bertemu denganmu, Anto.)

Anto: Same here. (Sama di sini.)

Nia: Rina always had good taste. Hope to see you soon. (Rina selalu punya selera yang bagus. Berharap untuk melihat Anda segera.)

Rina: You can count on it! (Kamu bisa mengandalkannya!)
