Apa itu noun clause?

Noun clause adalah anak kalimat atau bagian kalimat yang memiliki fungsi sebagai kata benda (noun) yang dapat menduduki posisi sebagai subjek atau objek dalam suatu kalimat. Berikut ini beberapa contoh kalimat menggunakan noun clause pada berbagai penempatan posisi:

a. Noun clause as subject (noun clause sebagai subjek)

Noun clause (relative pronoun + S + V) | Be + Complement

• There man who is speaking | is President of the United States.
• What you hear | is true.
• That tomorrow is a holiday | is not true.
• What she said | was boring.
• How the man was killed | was still a mystery.
• Whether you want to join or not | is not important for us.

Noun clause (relative pronoun + S + V) | Verb | Complement

• That he wants to become a president | becomes | a reality.
• How the country gets a way out | will bring | a big change.
• Who will be the next leader of this organization | will be decided | in the summit meeting tonight.

b. Noun clause as complement (noun clause sebagai pelengkap)

Subject + Be | Noun clause (relative pronoun + S + V)

• I am worried | how she is now.
• The problem is about | who will go first.
• It is true | that apples grow in Malang.
• My friend is good at | how to operate this machine.

C. Noun clause as object (noun clause sebagai objek)

Subject + Verb | Noun clause (relative pronoun + S + V)

• Everyone likes | how she acts in a film.
• The cop told me | what street it was.
• We all have realized | that it is not good to live alone.
