Berikut adalah contoh dialog percakapan bahasa Inggris empat orang di restoran dan kafe.

(Rooney, Gisni, and Aan are looking at the menu. Then the Waiter comes) 

  • Waiter        :  Have you decided on something, sir?
  • Rooney         : Yes, I’d like to try the steak, please. How about you guys?
  • Gisni          : I think I’ll have the curry, please
  • Aan            : I’ll just take a small salad, please
  • Waiter        : What would you like afterwards?
  • Rooney         : Just coffee
  • Gisni          : Chocolate ice cream please,
  • Aan            : Could you make it two?
  • Gisni          : Why don’t you try this apple pie, it looks delicious
  • Aan            : very well, apple pie for me please
  • Waiter        : Anything else?
  • Rooney         : No, just that for now
  • Waiter        : Alright, I’ll come back right away

USEFUL EXPRESSIONS 

1. Bagaimana cara menanyakan pesanan

Biasanya kita akan ditanya duluan oleh pelayan seperti yang ada dalam dialog

“Have you decided on something, sir?” 

Selain memakai kalimat di atas, ungkapan yang bisa digunakan adalah: 

  • Have you chosen something, sir? 
  • May I take your order, Ma’am? 
  • Can I take your order, sir? 
  • Are you ready to order? 

2. Bagaimana cara menyampaikan pesanan anda

Nah jawabannya tergantung mau pesen apa, kalau di dialog Rooney bilangnya

“Yes, I’d like to try the steak, please.” 

Contoh yang lainnya: 

  • Yes, haddock and chips for me, please 
  • Yes, I think I’ll have egg-mayonnaise, please. 
  • I’ll just take onion soup, please. 
  • We’d like to order grilled lamb chops 
  • I’ll have grapefruit juice to begin with, and beefburger and chips to follow

3. Bagaimana cara menanyakan pesanan tambahan

Beberapa restoran biasanya menyediakan tiga menu. Menu pembuka, menu utama dan menu penutup. Nah, makanya pelayannya akan menanyakan lagi atau menawarkan menu untuk hidangan penutup.  Kalau di dialog pelayannya bilang

“What would you like afterwards?” 

Bisa juga diganti dengan: 

  • And to follow? 
  • How about the sweet? 
  • What would you like afterwards? 
  • Do you want any sweet? 

4. Bagaimana cara menyampaikan pesanan tambahan anda

Dalam dialog, Gisni memesan es krim cokelat

“Chocolate ice cream please,”

Contoh lainnya adalah:

  • beef curry                 : kari sapi
  • chicken salad             : salad yang menggunakan daging ayam sebagai bahan utamanya
  • decided                     : memutuskan
  • grilled lamb chops      : daging domba panggang
  • haddock                    : sejenis ikan laut
